June is a glorious time for the climbing rose in our Brooklyn backyard garden.  This painting shows the calm and shady sitting niche where I can look at the arbor, have tea, read, sit with a friend  or simply contemplate.  I painted this scene because I was captivated by the patterns on the leaves and shadows on the walkway. The varied pinks and greens remind me of Monet's garden.
